Docs & troubleshooting
Everything you need to install and run Nodal. For license activation specifically, see the activation guide.
Install
Nodal (free)
- Get Nodal from the download page (Autodesk App Store).
- Close Revit, run the installer, and reopen Revit.
- The Nodal ribbon tab appears with the free tools.
Nodal+ (subscription)
- Start a trial or subscribe from your account, then download the Nodal+ installer from the download page.
- Run it. It upgrades an existing Nodal install in place (no need to uninstall first).
- Activate your license in Revit (how to activate). The Plus tools turn full-colour.
If Nodal doesn't appear after installing: Unblock it. Windows marks
internet-downloaded files as blocked, which can stop Revit from loading the add-in on first
run. Right-click the installer (or the blocked .dlls) → Properties
→ tick Unblock → OK, then reopen Revit. Full steps on the
activation page.
Supported Revit versions
Nodal supports Revit 2022 – 2027. The installer auto-detects the versions you have installed and pre-selects them; you can override that in the setup screen.
Troubleshooting
The Nodal tab doesn't show up
Almost always the Windows "blocked file" issue above: Unblock the install and restart Revit.
If it still doesn't appear, check the log at
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Nodal\logs\ and email it to us.
The Nodal+ tools are greyed out
That means there's no active Plus license on this machine: either you're on free Nodal, your trial ended, or the subscription lapsed. Start a trial or subscribe from your account, then activate.
How do I move my license to another computer?
One machine per license by default. On the machine you're leaving, open Nodal Settings → Deactivate License to free the seat, then activate on the new machine with the same key. If you can't reach the old machine (dead drive, wiped PC), email support@nodal.design and we'll release it for you.
How do updates work?
Free Nodal updates through the Autodesk App Store automatically. Nodal+ checks for updates on startup (once a day) and offers a download link when a new version is out.
Still stuck?
Email support@nodal.design with your Revit version and (if relevant) your license key, and we'll help.
